ABOUT THE SHOW
The Farnborough International Airshow is an unmissable event for aerospace and defence sector stakeholders, on a global scale. Featuring more than 1500 exhibitors from 52 countries, the show provides a major opportunity for businesses to engage with industry and showcase the latest products and services before an international, target audience.
This year, organisers will unveil the new, state-of-the-art Hall One exhibition space – an area in which Capgemini Engineering has secured a stand to exhibit its key offers to the industry.
ADVANCED AIRCRAFT DEVELOPMENT
Societal and commercial demands are driving the factors that will constitute a successful aircraft of the future. Improved capacity, efficiency and customer experience are just a few challenges facing manufacturers today.Above all, the ability to innovate will ultimately determine which companies will prosper in industry tomorrow.
Capgemini Engineering’s multidisciplinary, multi-sector teams can support this process with a wealth of experience in high-technology engineering – from designing hybrid-electric systems to developing next-generation HMIs.
Capgemini Engineering’s experts in fields as diverse as vehicle systems engineering, aircraft aerodynamics, safety-critical systems and software development, cyber security, advanced manufacturing and design will be at Farnborough to showcase how Capgemini Engineering’s leading-edge expertise can contribute to aircraft development programmes via a dynamic schedule of flash workshops and talks – the CAPGEMINI ENGINEERING UK Twitter account will provide up-to-the-minute details on show week.
PRODUCTION RAMP-UP AND AEROSPACE 4.0
In order to address significant production challenges, the aerospace industry’s leading players must embrace the technologies that will make their manufacturing processes agile, intelligent and fast. The next industrial revolution is here, characterised by ‘smart’ factories marrying previous advances in technology with the advent of cyber-physical systems. The potential offered by this new era of advanced manufacturing is truly game changing: more efficiency, flexibility and productivity from a product’s conception to its launch, delivering all-important faster time-to-market in an industry that is moving at an unprecedented speed.
The Capgemini Engineering team will be on hand at Farnborough to provide insight into the technologies making the difference – automation, latest-generation capital equipment, augmented reality, machine learning, IoT technologies, data mining and advanced analytics to name a few.
Capgemini Engineering’s experts in Aerospace 4.0 have developed proven methodologies to drive manufacturing efficiency, with quantified improvements made for customers including figures as impressive as a 30% increase in work force productivity, 20% reduction in maintenance costs and 40% reduction in inventory.
Stand visitors will be able to see an example of recent work undertaken for Airbus, with the opportunity to navigate a digital twin of the manufacturer’s Puerto Real factory using thought alone!

DIGITAL SERVICES AND CONNECTIVITY
Disruptive digital technologies are exerting such an impact on modern civilization that late adopters are risking nothing short of disappearance. Business models are evolving as companies realise that digital disruptions are not only essential for survival, but present an opportunity to rethink the ways in which they deliver value to the market.
Capgemini Engineering’s advanced HMI, asset tracking and digital modelling specialists will be at the air show to share how Capgemini Engineering is helping to reshape businesses in the digital age.
In addition, experts in two domains that are critical to digital transformation programmes – data science and cyber security – will be showcasing aerospace-focused solutions via live demonstrations on stand.
Check the CAPGEMINI ENGINEERING UK Twitter account for details from Monday 16th July.
A RESPONSIBLE PLAYER: FUTURES DAY AND WEEKEND ACTIVITIES
Capgemini Engineering is a sponsor of Futures Day, an initiative established to encourage young people aged 11–21 to consider a career in the exciting aerospace and defence sectors. The team will be holding two activities on the Capgemini Engineering stand on Friday, Saturday and Sunday:
Who says that creativity and STEM don’t go together? At the Capgemini Engineering stand we’ll be holding a photography challenge, in which you will be given ten aircraft-related themes. As you explore the airshow, we’ll be asking you to look for original and creative ways to interpret and capture each theme in a single snapshot. We’ll display the best entries at the Capgemini Engineering stand, with one lucky winner receiving each day’s grand prize!
