Capgemini has presented the report “Operator overboard! Throw him a digital service!” issued by the Telecommunications, Media and Services division of Capgemini Spain.
The thesis of the report is the need for operators to increase their revenue through new and innovative offerings based on the new digital services. But operators cannot effectively and successfully define and launch these services using their own means. They need the knowledge and experience of other market players, with which they must partner to achieve this objective.
Using a partnership creation methodology contained in the book “Network advantage: How to unlock value from your alliances and partnerships”, written in 2014, which analyses a set of digital services that includes digital content, IoT (Internet of Things) services, cybersecurity, Cloud services, Big Data services, 5G services and virtualisation services (SDN / NFV).
Optimum partnership structures are defined for each service and these networks are compared to those currently existing in seven leading operators: ATT, Telstra, Telefónica, Vodafone, Orange, Deutsche Telekom and Telecom Italia. This allows us to analyse the partnership strategies of these operators with respect to ideal alliance structures.
