The company, the global leader in engineering and R&D services, participates in the first European 5G forum, ‘Let’s 5G European Forum’, organized by Vodafone Business.
Altran, the global leader in engineering and R&D services, presented a groundbreaking experience of real-time transmission of Virtual Reality (VR Streaming) through 5G at the first European forum for this technology, which, under the title ‘Let’s 5G European Forum’, was organized by Vodafone Business with Altran, Cisco and Samsung as partners. Hall 14 at Ifema (Madrid) was the venue chosen to showcase the first practical applications of 5G for companies that will be replicated in other European capitals.
Ana Mosquera, EU VP Communication Service Providers Group in Altran, showed attendees a virtual visit to the Airbus Puerto Real factory, demonstrating the potential offered by this new technology. Thanks to 5G communications, the factory’s twin digital processing is transferred to the cloud from there it is sent in real time to virtual reality devices. Mosquera explained to the attendees how it is possible to enjoy virtual experiences on low cost devices with the same quality. In the near future, we will have simpler terminals, of lower cost and with greater benefits.
This means, according to the Altran board, that “thanks to 5G, many other critical technologies for digital transformation and the advancement of society will be democratized. The entry of 5G technology will serve as a lever to bring the latest technological advances to the real world. The characteristics that it provides us in terms of Bandwidth, Latency and Density of devices will add value to all fields of application and industries.”
Altran has a fundamental role, as a connecting link, since we are dedicated to engineering and R&D in all industries. We must build an effective and inclusive ecosystem of partners so that 5G has traction in our business. Ana Mosquera VP EU Communication Service Providers Group at Altran
During the event, attendees were able to explore a Demo area of real use cases such as, “an intelligent supermarket with augmented reality, “Immersion in Gaming competitions,” as well as a “Connected ambulance and rehabilitation system with augmented reality.”
