On 11 February 2021, on the occasion of the United Nations “International Day of Women and Girls in Science”, Capgemini Engineering Italy launches the 2st edition of the “Women in STEM” project.
For the second consecutive year the company confirms its attention to the issue of Gender Diversity and puts in place a series of actions to enhance its female employees who have embarked on a brilliant career in the STEM sector and who, thanks to their skills, give every day added value to the projects they work on.
The project, which is part of Capgemini Engineering’s “Inclusion & Diversity” program, is consistent with the 5th objective of the United Nations “Sustainable Development Goals” dedicated to “Gender Equality”.
The UN points out that the gender gap in the STEM sector has profound implications for the future of the global economy. Women enjoy less than two-thirds of the economic opportunities offered to men. There are still few women in STEM decision makers who have the highest paying STEM jobs.
The jobs of the future will be driven by technology and innovation and if the gender divide found in engineering and STEM subjects is not soon bridged, the general gender gap is likely to widen.
Capgemini Engineering is committed to creating the conditions for women with STEM training to have equal employment opportunities, to carry out a profession that enhances their skills through company processes of selection, retention, talent development, total rewards.
